Food for Life Global teams up with Natalia Parra

nataliaparraRising political star, animal rights activist and vegan, Natalia Parra recently met with director of Food for Life Global, Paul Rodney Turner to discuss how the non-profit’s expertise and knowledge of nutritious meals could be helpful for her political goals.

Parra is currently vying to become a leader in Colombia and her campaign policies are as follows:

  1. Animals are not objects: she is planning to increase the laws that protect animals
  2. Don’t kill animals:  Animals must not be slaughtered, but yes served. Work for sterilization and adoption are the mechanism of control for canine and feline population in the municipalities as well as the installation of public hospitals for animals.
  3. Suffering is not fun: Animals are not the subject of entertainment. Do not support shows where they mistreat, injure or kill animals.
  4. State Budget: Animal protection should be included in the state budget. We will work to include in the annual state budget a line item for animal protection.
  5. Free wildlife:Animals should not be trafficked. Work with law enforcement against wildlife trafficking and make political control over the actions or omissions of state officials.
  6. Science, with awareness: Animals should not be used in experimentation. Act against the continuation of experiments involving the use, abuse and killing of animals.
  7. No violence: We reject all forms of violence. Work to promote the cessation of violence, especially gender, race and species, showing their interrelationship and consequences.
  8. No war!: Animals are victims of armed conflict. We will support the peace process, we do not want more human and nonhuman victims because of the war.
  9. Education in Empathy: Be a responsible citizen with animals. Work to include all levels of education through lectures on animals and society.
  10. Animals are not slaves: Animals are not trucks.
  11. Sustainable food: Consume responsibly and informed benefits us all. Work in promoting agroecology, rural and urban garden, to promote the consumption of healthy foods.
  12. Keep it live: Ecological sustainability is our responsibility. We will promote a culture of recycling and defend the snowy moors, Natural parks, forests, water sources and ecosystems.
  13. Life Underwater: All underwater wildlife should be protected. Work for the protection of underwater wildlife is included in the formulation of animal protection laws.
  14. Justice is no only for one: Social justice against oppression and exploitation. We oppose all forms of exploitation and oppression that affect the quality of life of sentient beings.
  15. Inter-dependent and eco-dependent: We are interdependent beings. Work on the basis of our inter-dependents and eco-dependents to legislate ethically on ecosystems, animals and society.

Parra was born in medellin, in 1980. She always had problems in school because she never experimented on animals. In year 7, she decided to stop attending school and study at home instead and just perform her school test (ICFES) from home.

In 2012, the Council of Bogotá, in full session, presented her with the Maria Currea Aya Style award in recognition of her work in search of a better life for animals.

A lover of culture, children and animals, Natalia Parra, argues that a major contribution to the welfare of this country is in establishing a respectful relationship with all beings that inhabit it.  And just like Gandhi before her and several other philosophers, Parra believes  moral evolution begins when we treat the weakest, including animals with our utmost respect.

Food for Life Global is so excited to work with this foreword thinking and innovative leader and plans are now being drawn up to include Food for Life Global’s expertise and the principles of Food Yoga in the execution of many of Parra’s ideals.
