Traditional
Vedic cuisine is another part of the cultural legacy brought by Food
for Life from India to the West. Food for Life
recipes have been handed down over the centuries, and are vegetarian
cooking at its best. Our chefs have perfected the art of combining
grains, nuts, vegetables and fruits in the most mouthwatering
ways. Moreover, all the food served from Food for Life kitchens
has been first sanctified.
In
some areas of the world, Food for Life meals begin right
from the
seedling stage,
where members grow organic vegetables
and grains to be used in Food for Life kitchens. "Our hope
is to develop all our Food for Life services into self-sufficient,
organic food-relief programs," said Priyavrata Das, "where
our clients will benefit, not only from the higher quality food
produced, but will also have the chance to experience what it
is like to live on a God-centered sustainable farm."
This
prasadam (karma-free food ) is both materially and spiritually
nourishing to anyone who eats it. Just by eating prasadam anyone
can become healthy, happy
and peaceful," says Kurma Das, star chef on PBS's "Great
Vegetarian Dishes." www.kurma.net
The
truth is the vegetable kingdom is the storehouse of all
nutrition. "The belief that meat should be an essential
part of the diet is one of the many fallacies handed down from
generation to generation, " said Kurma. "The
truth is," he explained, "the vegetable kingdom is the storehouse
of all nutrition; taking up the essential elements of the soil, combining
them with
the rays of the sun, and presenting them in the most varied forms, all of
which are most conducive to health, happiness, and longevity. And the proof
is in the
tasting," claims Kurma, " and so far there have been hundreds of
millions of happy Food for Life recipients to testify."
