Project Spotlight
Working Villages International
Working Villages is building a Gandian village in the Democratic Republic of Congo, which by its completion will provide nearly all of the daily necessities for its projected population of 5,000 to 7,000 inhabitants. This village will operate under the varnashrama social structure as presented by A. C. Bhakivedana Swami Prabhupada.
Goal of Project/Outcome (the more specific the better): To build a Self-sufficient Agrarian Community following a Gandian Social model. Working Villages International has linked the Gandian Social model with an alternative economic structure called Village Self-Reliance in order to finally realize the full promise of a Gandian village.
WVI and FFL are two organizations that complement each other very nicely because of their goals and their philosophy. By collaborating with each other both WVI and FFL would be stronger organizations.
Purpose: Congo is just emerging from the most devastating war that the world has since World War Two with nearly 5.5 million Congolese dead. Any FFL donation would be used for sustainable relief from the suffering experienced from lack of food, housing and services.
